"A big hope of mine for this year is to help create an atmosphere of being at home, while living in Tropicana. We hope to do that through creating a safe space for residents to feel comfortable, known and free to be honest in who they are and by providing opportunities for connection."

— Abbey Brower, Resident Coordinator

Quick Facts

Purchased by Biola in 2001, the Tropicana Apartment Building is part of what is known as 'The Block,' a row of apartment buildings located a half-mile from the Biola campus. Tropicana is designated for undergrad students who are 20 years or older by the first day of fall classes. It is staffed by two paraprofessional resident coordinators.

About Tropicana Apartments

Tropicana contains two-bedroom apartments, designed to house four students each. There is one laundry room on the ground floor. Tropicana is co-ed, with male and female students living in separate apartments. While there is no lobby or lounge per se, there is an external patio and swimming pool that provides social space. All doors open to a central courtyard area making community easy and natural.

Tropicana Apartments' doors are secured by a key access system, so only residents can access the building. Each individual room is key-locked for student security. Security cameras in outside and common areas are monitored 24 hours per day, and Campus Safety patrols campus regularly to ensure student security at all times.
