      Program Overview

      building in Italy, Rome

The Veritas Rome Experience offers students an opportunity to fully explore art, architecture, global perspective and history. When in Rome, students will find themselves engaged in rigorous academics and immersive cross-cultural experiences that give them the opportunity to explore Roman art, ethics and early Christianity in a location that has played a large role in Christian history.

Students will also have opportunities to create community with other Christians navigating how to serve the Lord in a new culture and embracing the joy and beauty of this place. One way students can do this is by taking advantage of the ministry opportunities this program provides. Several ministries that are offered include an English language ministry that partners with local churches in the Rome area and a refugee ministry. Participating students are required to register for the 1 credit Ministry Practicum course through this Veritas Program. The Ministry Practicum course will transfer back to Biola as 1 general elective credit.

Through opportunities for ministry, rigorous academic courses, group museum visits and living together, students will create lifelong bonds with one another. In Rome, they will be able to indulge in incredible pasta, see world-renowned art, and bask in the sun as they study in one of their University's gardens atop the tallest hill in Rome.

Students will explore historically and culturally significant locations such as the grandiose Colosseum, the beautiful art adorning Vatican City, the incredible Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and the ruins of the Roman Forum. Students are also invited to partake in multi-day excursions to locations such as Florence, Tuscany, Lazio, Capri, Naples, Pompeii and more. Students who apply to attend the Veritas Rome Experience complete a Biola application for review by Study Abroad. In addition to the Biola Study Abroad application, students must also complete an application with the program provider, Veritas. Students must be accepted by Biola Study Abroad and the program provider to participate in the program.
