Biola University Partners with Global Foundation to Provide Training for Teachers in Zambia

Luciano Cid, professor of education, currently partners with Operation Mobilization to provide professional training for emerging and potential teachers in Zambia. The partnership with OM will continue into 2018 as an effort to provide professionally trained educators to students in Zambia.

“We do this by taking a group of students from Biola who are given the task to both instruct and partner up with a Zambian teacher candidate at the school of education that Operation Mobilization has been able to get formally accredited by the Zambian government,” said Cid.

The global foundation currently offers training to citizens living in Kabwe, a major province of Zambia. Although OM provides skills for teachers in major regions, smaller villages are left without proper education, forcing students to walk miles to reach their school destination.

Recognizing the lack of accessibility to education, Cid implements teaching seminars to adequately prepare educators in the surrounding region. The seminars include training modules and clinical preparation models which help educators translate their knowledge into practice.

“Our work in Zambia with Operation Mobilization, therefore, is one in which we feel fortunate to be able to meet other Christians who want to love and teach children just like we do,” said Cid. “Because of that connection, we desire to equip, encourage, and support their efforts of becoming Christ centered educators in their parts of the world.”
