Educational Studies, Ph.D. '22

The program equipped me to be a self-directed learner who takes primary charge of planning, continuing and evaluating my learning process. It also improved my capacity to conduct empirical research on any subject. In addition, the program challenged me to be a transformative Christian teacher. These qualities have a strong impact on my career path.

What did you appreciate most about your time at Biola?

I appreciate all the staff at Talbot, including my professors, academic advisors and assistants related to our program. I could feel sincere care from all faculty members to improve their student's academic capacity and emotional stability as well.

How did Biola equip you to be a more faithful follower of Jesus Christ?

Each moment at Biola equipped me to be a more faithful follower of Jesus Christ. Professors always prayed for us whenever we had a personal meeting. Our program curriculum was designed to challenge us to spend more time with Jesus and reflect on ourselves as Jesus' followers. Talbot Wives fellowship also helped my faith development as well. I think I was aware of the meaning of Christ-likeness and Christian life through my life at Talbot. All the events, worship services and counseling helped me to stay on the right track in Christ.

What advice would you give to students considering your degree program?

Since I was an international student who struggled with English fluency, I would like to advise international students to improve their linguistic ability before they join this program. Other than that, I think anyone who has a clear goal, mission and passion for pursuing a doctoral degree will adapt well to this program.
