Finance Concentration

The Finance concentration offers two distinct tracks: Corporate Finance and Financial Planning, allowing students to tailor their education to their career goals.

  • Corporate Finance Track

Students who choose the Corporate Finance track are prepared for careers such as financial analyst, research associate, or portfolio manager. This track develops strong analytical and strategic decision-making skills for work in corporations, nonprofits, and government organizations.

  • Financial Planning Track

The Financial Planning track fulfills the educational requirements for the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) credential and positions graduates for careers in wealth management and financial advising. The curriculum meets CFP® education standards and equips students to serve individuals and families with excellence and integrity.

Across both tracks, students gain a foundational understanding of how to effectively and efficiently manage cash flow within financial institutions and organizations — whether for-profit, nonprofit, or governmental. Coursework covers topics such as corporate finance, investments, and organizational leadership, while integrating biblical principles that shape ethical and redemptive financial decision-making.

Students develop both technical skills — including financial modeling, spreadsheet analysis, and investment evaluation — and professional skills such as communication, leadership, and strategic thinking.

If you are fascinated by financial markets, detail-oriented, and enjoy working with numbers, this concentration can prepare you for careers including financial analyst, portfolio manager, financial consultant, wealth advisor, or research associate.

Additional Learning Opportunities

Beyond the classroom, students can deepen their experience through:

  • Student Investment Fund — Designed for students interested in asset management, investment analysis, and financial stewardship through hands-on real portfolio management experience.

  • Biola Financial Planning Association — A student organization equipping future financial planners and wealth managers by integrating professional preparation with biblical stewardship.

This concentration prepares you not only to excel in the financial industry, but to lead with competence, conviction and Christ-centered purpose.
