Accelerated Master's Program: Master of Professional Accountancy (MPAcc)

As an accounting major at Biola, you can earn your degree in B.S. in Accounting in three and a half years and Master of Professional Accountancy (MPAcc) with just one additional year of study (for a total of four and a half years).

This is an alternative to the traditional track that is both a time efficient and cost effective way to earn your 150 credits required for the CPA exam. Compared to the traditional track where you’ll earn your accounting degree in four years, you will be able to start the Master of Professional Accountancy program one semester earlier and save on tuition costs.

Here's how it works:

Current undergraduate accounting students at Biola can apply for the accelerated program one semester before their intended graduation date.

  • If you are graduating in the spring and starting the accelerated program the following fall, apply to the accelerated program the semester before your graduation.
  • If you are graduating in the fall and starting the accelerated program the following spring, apply to the accelerated program the semester before your graduation.

For application deadlines and specific admission requirements, please refer to the admissions requirements for the Master of Professional Accountancy (MPAcc).

Accelerated Master's Program Credit Requirements

For the accelerated program, the credit requirements are the following:

  • B.S. in Accounting: 120 credits
  • Master of Professional Accountancy (MPAcc):
    • 30 credits (for undergraduate accounting students at Biola)
    • 33 credits (for undergraduate accounting students at another institution)

Standard Completion Track

Students who prefer not to enroll in the Accelerated Master’s Program (MPAcc), but who desire to complete both the B.S. in Accounting and Master of Professional Accountancy (MPAcc), are welcome to complete coursework at a standard pace — applying to the master’s program following a four-year bachelor’s degree.

Students who hold an accounting degree at Biola or another institution can complete the master’s program in one year (full-time status). If a student does not have an undergraduate accounting degree, then leveling courses are required –– this will extend the program completion date. For more information on the requirements, explore the Master of Professional Accountancy (MPAcc) program.
