Minor in Biblical Literature and Classical Theology

Overview

Torrey Honors College offers a robust biblical and theological education that is unparalleled in classical Christian higher education. Since its founding, the Torrey Honors College has faithfully stewarded Biola University’s historical commitment to 30 units of Bible and theology. Through their coursework, all Torrey Honors students may earn a minor in Biblical Literature and Classical Theology. Torrey Honors students read and discuss the majority of the Old Testament and the entirety of the New Testament, in addition to works by major theologians in Church history like Athanasius, Augustine, Anselm, Aquinas, Luther, Calvin, and C.S. Lewis. Together, we pursue the Good, the True, and the Beautiful, which are ultimately found in Jesus Christ.

Program Learning Outcome

Christ-Centered Formation in the Great Books Tradition: Students will identify the basic contents of the Bible and its impact on the great books tradition, thoughtfully examine the major doctrines of Christianity as they were worked out by major theologians in Church history, explain the unity of God’s truth across disciplines, and maturely reflect upon their own transformation into the image of Christ (ULO 1, 2, and 3).
