College-to-Career Workshops

Business Administration majors are required to complete a series of eight career management workshops. These workshops will be made available at various times throughout each semester. Students will receive regular communications from the department regarding the scheduling and availability of these workshops. Below is a sample list of some of the workshops students will have the opportunity to attend.

How to Land Your Dream Internship Workshop

In this workshop, students will be able to identify key search strategies to find internships (networking and online search engines). They will begin self reflection to identify types of internships they may consider pursuing. Our speakers will share an organizational system for tracking their internship search.

How to Build Your Personal Brand Workshop

In this workshop, students will learn how to identify and articulate your personal differentiators. You will learn how to communicate your value so others will listen. You will learn specific tools and exercises that will help build a career narrative that strengthens, redefines, and establishes your professional brand. You will create an action plan for achieving your goals.

How to Sharpen Your Networking Skills Workshop

In this workshop, students will be able to identify networking strategies to make connections that will enhance their professional development and professional experiences. They will learn how to professionally introduce themselves to alumni, employers, and potential professional mentors and conduct an informational interview.

How to Ace Your Job Interview Workshop

In this workshop, students will learn how to construct answers to interview questions that showcase their personal strengths and are communicated in a concise and clear manner. Also, they will learn Identify best practices (professional etiquette) for different interview formats. Our speaker will share what employers look for in candidates and how to match your skills and experiences to internship/job descriptions.

How to Develop a Winning Resume & Cover Letter Workshop

In this workshop, students will learn how to write effective resumes. You’ll have an opportunity to learn the basics as well as advanced strategies for creating resumes that meet your needs. You will also learn how to write compelling cover letters that clearly articulate why you’re the right person for the job.

How to “Crush It” on LinkedIn Workshop

Students will learn how to optimize your profile in order to be found on LinkedIn and create a network of contacts that opens new opportunities. They will learn practical Linkedin Etiquette, tips and tricks such as strategically enlarging your network, searching for jobs and setting up job alerts, and building your brand and communicating your value.

Mock Interview

Students will be paired with executives where they complete a Mock Interview assignment. Students will be responsible to find a job for which they would like to apply. They will prepare by scheduling the interview with the executive, researching the organization/job and preparing questions with a sense of curiosity for the interviewer about the position and the organization. Students will be given feedback after the interview.
