Equipped with nothing but God’s grand promises, Abram heads out on mission to save humanity. Our (mostly) silent protagonist begins as a shining example of faithfulness to God in a world marked by unfaithfulness. But something changes for Abram in Genesis 15. He speaks to God for the first time in the story, expressing doubt and frustration at the empty promises of God. Sandwiched between his verbalized doubts, God declares Abram as “righteous”. After trusting God enough to move his family and change his life, why would his first moment of doubt lead to righteousness?

Speakers

Zach Zienka

Zach currently lives in Fullerton with his wife Alexa. He graduated from Biola with his bachelor's degree in Christian Ministries and has since completed a Masters in Theology from Liberty University and a Masters in Old Testament from Talbot. Zach has been a pastor and a teacher for the last 7 years in different churches and venues. He has a love for guiding others through the difficulties of the Old Testament and discovering the character of God within those hard texts. When he isn't nerding out to the Hebrew language and textual criticism, Zach can be found playing Spikeball on the beach, watching Formula 1 races, and trying to catch up to his wife's skill in rock-climbing. He now teaches High School Bible classes at Southlands Christian School in Rowland Heights.
