Memorial service for Jerry Mackey

Cost and Admission

This event is free to attend.

As President Corey shared on April 18, the Biola community lost a dearly loved brother and colleague, Jerry Mackey.

Jerry Mackey has been an invaluable member of our community for more than 35 years, serving as legal counsel for Biola since 1982 and as a champion of religious freedom in Christian higher education across the nation.

In addition to his dedicated service to Biola, Jerry served in private law practice since 1979, most recently at Schmiesing, Blied, Stoddart & Mackey in Fullerton. His work concentrated on estate planning, tax planning, and charitable and deferred giving. He specialized in working with non-profit organizations and served on the board of numerous non-profits. Jerry was also a member of the planned giving committees of St. Jude Hospital Foundation and the University of California, Irvine.

Jerry received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara and his Juris doctorate from Pepperdine University School of Law. He was a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA), the Christian Legal Society and the Estate Planning Section of the California State Bar.

Please join the Biola community in praying for Jerry’s wife Judy, their three daughters and the Mackey family during this time as they grieve his passing and celebrate his life.

A memorial service for Jerry Mackey will take place on campus after the Commencement season on Sunday, May 20 at 2 p.m. in Lansing Auditorium, Crowell Hall on Biola’s campus. Outdoor reception to follow on the plaza near the Student Union Building. Staff and faculty are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Jerry Mackey Memorial Scholarship Fund. Details about this fund are forthcoming.
