Where we let teaching from the Word pierce our hearts (Heb. 4:12) as we explore our annual theme in Scripture, which this year is “Life Together” (2 Corinthians 7:3).

Speakers

April Westbrook

Dr. April Westbrook is Professor of Old Testament at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, California.   She has earned B.A. and M.A. degrees in Biblical Studies, as well as a Ph.D. in Religion, specializing in Old Testament.  

Dr. Westbrook enjoys sharing with students her great love for the biblical text. Each academic year, she introduces students to the formal study of scripture, teaching several foundational courses in the Religion core curriculum and biblical Hebrew. She also regularly teaches courses in Old Testament historical books and the Pentateuch, giving specific attention to narrative interpretation methodologies, and encouraging students to discover the amazing relevance of these texts to the current reader. 

As an ordained minister for over twenty-five years, Professor Westbrook also has great interest in issues concerning women in leadership and ministry roles. She regularly teaches related courses, as well as speaking at conferences, retreats and chapel services.
