Mission, History and Accreditation
Mission and History
The Department of Art graduated its first class of students in 1972, and has continued to flourish year to year. Today, our department boasts three robust bachelor’s programs — including a nationally accredited B.F.A. in Studio Art, B.S. in Art and B.S. in Design — along with two minors and a wide array of program concentrations.
Our mission is to guide students in their artistic and spiritual formation, and to help them fulfill their unique, sacred calling in culture. All of our programs are accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), which includes the:
All of our programs are also accredited by the National Association of the Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). Biola University is one of only a few Christian universities to have a nationally accredited B.F.A. program.
