You are cordially invited to the 13th Annual Crowell Distinguished Speaker Series. This series brings a selection of accomplished business leaders to the Biola University community to share their varied professional and personal insights. This event is free and open to all! A virtual option will be available, but we would love for you to join us in-person as we are hosting our speaker at Biola University in the Andrews Banquet Room.

Our speaker for this event is Hye Jin Lee.

Hye Jin has been a Crowell School of Business graduate mentor since 2016. She is a Professional Engineer licensed to practice in multiple states. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from UCI. As part of her master's program, she received a fellowship and worked with Southern California Edison to research the viability of the deployment of electric vehicles and EV charge stations in the early 1990s with the introduction of EV 1, a prototype EV. Her master’s thesis research was based on an “Application of Artificial Neural Networks in Transportation Engineering” before there was the iPhone and Google! She and her siblings (a sister and a brother) are first-generation college graduates in their family (two engineers and an applied math major). Hye Jin has been married to her husband Steve for 27 years. Steve graduated from Talbot Theological Seminary. She was introduced to the mentor program by her former boss. Hye Jin and Steve have a college-aged daughter and a son. She currently is a Director of Public Works for the City of Chino. She oversees over 120 employees who range from maintenance workers to professional engineers. Under her care, she oversees a potable water system, sewer system, parks, fleet, and environmental compliance, along with a 5-year Capital Improvement Program worth over $120 million. Her passion is building up people who are in her circle of influence and sharing the hope we have in Jesus whenever possible. Her leadership success is defined by investing in people for their success and seeing their transformation into a confident person who knows who they are in Christ. She and her husband serve in a multicultural ministry in Azusa.
