Calvary Chapel Sacred Art Renovation

Service of Worship and Celebration

Cost and Admission

This event is free to attend.

Registration for the ceremony and luncheon is required.

President Barry H. Corey and Mrs. Paula Corey invite you to the dedication ceremony of the newly renovated Calvary Chapel.

An important venue on the Biola University campus, Calvary Chapel has received a compelling revitalization using contemporary stained glass windows with pioneering lighting techniques, a stunning gilded relief and a cross sculpture over the main entrance.

Thanks to the gifts of generous donors, the world-renowned Danish artists Peter Brandes and Maja Lisa Engelhardt have been commissioned for this sacred space renovation.

Following the ceremony, join the Biola community for a light lunch at the Earl and Virginia Green Art Gallery to view the restoration process exhibit — Resurrection: The Rebirth of Calvary Chapel. Peter Brandes and Maja Lisa Engelhardt will speak about the project and tour guests through the gallery space where their works will be displayed.

Calvary Chapel was built in 1975 by the Pasadena architect John Andre Gougeon. Its rich history, classic architecture and central location on Biola's campus provided great potential for creating a beautifully refreshed chapel by the hands of these notable Danish artists. Calvary Chapel's art renovation adds a dimension of reverence that enriches our campus and will attract people from around Southern California and beyond.

More information about the artists and the project can be found on the Center for Christianity, Culture, and the Arts website.
