Starting in the 2026 catalog year, a minimum grade of a C is required in all Accounting, B.S. major and Business Administration, B.S. major / concentration courses taken at Biola. Anyone receiving lower than a C must repeat the course with a higher grade to receive credit for the course.

The Intro to Marketing requirement has two course options. Which one you take is dependent upon your major / concentration. Students in Accounting, Analytics & AI, Finance / Financial Planning, or Management are able to take BUSN 230 – the general section. Students in Entrepreneurship, Marketing Management, and Marketing are required to take BUSN 231: Practical Applications. While BUSN 231 is specifically required for those programs, any student is welcome to take this intensive section to meet their requirement.

All Biola students must complete a BBST 465 Integration Seminar course for their Biblical and Theological Studies minor. Each section offered teaches different topics. Business Administration and Accounting majors must specifically take the section BBST 4657 Organizational Ethics to complete both their Integration Seminar and Core Business requirement. This course cannot be substituted or transferred in, and must be taken during a student’s senior year. The other BBST 465 topics are available for students to take to meet one of their 300/400 level Bible Electives.

Before graduation from Biola, a student must pass the Writing Competency Requirement. This requirement will not be given separately from the standard curriculum. Instead, each department has designed its requirement to suit the particular demands of its major. WCR measures a student’s ability to write clear and correct English prose; it also tests whether a student can write according to the conventions of his or her field of study.

As part of any undergraduate business degree, students are required to take the course ENGL 3132 Writing for the Disciplines: Business & Accounting during their junior or senior year. Students taking and passing this course with a C+ or better will meet the Writing Competency Requirement for the Crowell School of Business. This course cannot be substituted or transferred in.
