Much like the Pharisees of the first century, we are always at risk of increasing our knowledge about God without increased affection for him. In Luke 15, Jesus tells three iconic parables that force this question: do you really know the heart of the Father? Upon careful reflection, the text reminds us of this profound and transcendent truth: we are deeply loved by God.

Jake Ellis
Jake Ellis is the teaching pastor at Atascadero Bible Church on the central coast of California. He is passionate about equipping people in all stages of faith to become more like Jesus. As a worship leader for over a decade, he believes that all good preaching must ultimately lead to worship, and he longs to teach God’s Word in a way that moves people toward greater devotion. Jake and his wife, Nikki, have two daughters whom he adores and two goldendoodles that he feels neutral about.
