Biblical Studies and Theology Requirement
Thirty units of biblical studies and theology must be included in the program of each student. Each student must take at least one course each semester until the requirement has been fulfilled. The following are required:

Note: Students who select a liberal arts major may count only a total of 30 units of biblical studies and theology toward the required units for a degree. (Biblical studies and Christian education majors may count unlimited biblical studies or theology.)
BBST103 The Bible & Spiritual Formation

Course Description:
Equipping to interpret and apply the Bible in accurate and dynamic ways for spiritual
transformation and character formation. Must be completed during the first year.
BBST105 Foundations of Christian Thought
Units:3.0

Course Description:
Introduction to theology with special emphasis on our Christian heritage as expressed in the
Creeds and Councils of the early church; the doctrine of Scripture; introduction to the
integration of the various fields of knowledge with the Bible; and the importance and
development of a Christian world view. Must be completed during the first year.
BBST109 OT History & Literature

Course Description:
An overview of the Old Testament with emphasis on the purpose of the writers;
history and culture; literary genre, structure, and themes; persons and events,
together with practical application for Christian living. Walk Thru Old Testament
Seminar fee: $20, fall & spring semesters only.

Course Description:
An overview of the New Testament with emphasis on the purpose of the writers; historical

with practical application to Christian living.
BBST251 Christian Thought I
Units:3.0

Course Description:
The Biblical doctrines of God, Christ, man, and sin, with reference to the history
and development of Christian theology. Prerequisite: 105.
BBST254 Christian Thought II
Units:3.0

Course Description:
The Biblical doctrines of salvation, the Holy Spirit, the church, and last things,
with reference to the history and development of Christian theology. A service
learning component is incorporated into this class. Prerequisite: 105.
BBST306 Early Christian History-Acts
Units:3.0

Course Description:
Study of the Book of Acts from a missions perspective, dealing with the activity of the early
church and its current expression in evangelism and missions. Prerequisites: 103, 105, 110,
251, 254.
BBST465 Integration Seminar
Units:3.0

Course Description:
Senior level capstone seminar in which the student will search the Bible and the literature
dealing with the topic(s) under discussion in the course leading to the discovery of means
whereby the subject area may be "integrated" with Biblical truth. The results of the research
will be incorporated in a paper or project which will be critiqued by the seminar members and
by the professor. (May be repeated with different content with a maximum of six units
counted toward graduation). Prerequisites: 103, 105, 109, 110, or permission of the
instructor.
