LA MIRADA, CALIF. — Biola University’s Spring 2022 Commencement ceremonies will be held in a traditional in-person format after two years of strict COVID restrictions on May 6 and 7. Nearly 900 graduates will graduate in two ceremonies held on Biola’s La Mirada campus.

After two years of having a drive-thru, pod-style and distanced commencements, Biola will be holding Spring commencement ceremonies on Metzger Lawn where graduates will walk the stage traditionally for the first time since 2019. Biola held nearly traditional fall ceremonies in December at the university’s Chase Gymnasium.

Biola University President Barry H. Corey will be giving the commencement address congratulating graduates who have shown admirable resilience throughout their journey and time at Biola. Dr. Correy states, "I am proud of these 2022 graduates who overcame obstacles and persevered to complete their degrees through so many twists and turns these past couple years. This weekend, we joyfully celebrate the accomplishments of these women and men and send them off toward bright futures to be a faithful presence in the world for the Lord Jesus Christ."

There will be two ceremonies, each celebrating different schools within Biola. The two ceremonies are planned as follows:

Friday, May 6, 2022 at 7 p.m.

Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 7 p.m.

For those unable to attend in person, a live stream of the ceremonies will be available on the Biola website, and on Biola’s Facebook.

Ceremonies will be Biola’s second traditional graduation ceremony since 2019 while still abiding by the county’s health and safety protocols.
