Talbot’s Institute for Spiritual Formation (ISF) recently received a gift of more than $1 million from a private donor. ISF is using these funds in the following ways:

  • Creating a non-academic one-year intensive training program for groups, churches and individuals interested in spiritual formation. Called “The Journey,” this program seeks to take the best of ISF’s curriculum and translate it into an accessible format for the church. The Journey will include video lectures from ISF faculty, small groups led by ISF-trained spiritual directors, individual spiritual direction, retreats and other proven elements from the ISF curriculum. The anticipated launch date is January 2023. To learn more, go to biola.edu/journey sign up for email updates.
  • Hiring two faculty, Dr. Dave Merrill and Dr. Berry Bishop.
  • Providing course release for ISF faculty so they can film content for “The Journey” and work on writing projects, including John Coe and Kyle Strobel’s recently published book Where Prayer Becomes Real: How Honesty with God Transforms Your Soul.
  • Supporting the development of a Spiritual Formation track for Talbot’s Doctor of Ministry program (launched in Spring 2021).
