A huge thing that has hindered me from fully embracing self-compassion in the past is that I've mistakenly associated self-love with selfishness. However, after reading this insightful blogpost by Lynn Underwood, I was reassured that self-love can actually be quite healthy for the spirit! Lynn reminds us that self-compassion is a part of “consciously valuing yourself." When we learn to love ourselves better, we will not only be doing ourselves a good service, but we will also be equipped to love our neighbors better as well.
