Biola professor and Dean of the School of Education June Hetzel continues to share inspiring messages through nine new devotionals published in Daily Comfort for Caregivers:365 Devotional Readings – a newly released book offering positive thoughts for caregivers.

Hetzel acquires new ideas through her experiences and daily interactions in teaching and studying the Bible. She keeps an ongoing file of devotionals and has more than 200 pages of ideas.

In this devotional, Hetzel wants readers to find comfort through reading about people’s triumphs and growth.

“It is my desire that through my contributions…individuals in our community who are the hands and feet of Christ will experience spiritual nourishment and sustenance through the stories of others and through God's Word,” said Hetzel.

Currently, Hetzel is working on a collection of devotionals entitled Hope Beyond Homicide, Remembrance Devotionals, which seeks to provide comfort for those who have experienced trauma and tragedies.

“My friend, Dr. Tina Elacqua, Senior Faculty at LeTourneau University, experienced the tragedy of a double homicide when both of her parents were murdered in New York a few years ago,” said Hetzel. “We have remained prayer partners through this experience and have been working with others in our communities who also have loved ones who are victims to homicide.”

This collection will be published in May 2010 and includes contributors from the Biola community such as Susan Elliott, Judith Rood, Ana Reyes Castillo, VJ Vonk and Faustin Ntamushobora.

With an extensive collection of inspiring thoughts over the years, she has contributed to other devotional books in the past such as 365 Daily Whispers of Wisdom for Busy Women: A Year of Inspirational Readings (published in 2008) and Beauty is Soul Deep: 180 Devotionals for Growing a Meaningful Inner Life (published in 2003). Besides writing devotionals, Hetzel has also authored teacher resource books and been involved in teaching programs.
