Message From the Vice Provost
Do you know where you’ll be and what you’ll be doing in 10 years? When I was in college I had no idea, but I knew I wanted to follow God. He knew where I’d be. He knew the foundation I needed in order to live my life in his service. Your college experiences lay many of the foundations you need for the rest of your adult life.
Welcome to the School of Arts and Sciences of Biola University. We want to work with you and Jesus to construct the foundations on which you will successfully continue to build for his glory.
Some of those foundations will be skills that you can use as you move into your vocational career. Some of the foundations will be facets of your character that will strengthen your understanding of self, your love for God, your family relationships, your compassion for the world. Some of the foundations will be knowledge of God and the Bible, about how complex people and life are, and about what we have learned so far that you can extend into the future.
I don’t know where you’ll be in 10 years. In fact, social changes and technology changes are so fast that you and I may not even imagine yet what opportunities will be available to you in 10 years — or even 5. But God is eternal, and he knows. Every year God uses Biola’s education to glorify himself through our alumni: from health and politics to music and film.
The faculty of the School of Arts and Sciences invite you to come and build the foundations for your life in Christ. May he abundantly bless you as you seek to follow him.
