In celebration of International Women's Day, international students at Biola University in La Mirada, California, talked about womanhood and beauty in their cultures. Students from China, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Mexico said women often play a different role in their cultures, taking on the sole responsibility of taking care of the family and being a good wife. In America, women are often celebrated. These international Biola students reflected on what beauty was, recalling descriptions such as "joy" and "pride." 2011 marked the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day.
