On Friday, May 28 and Saturday, May 29 nearly 9,000 guests attended Biola University's Friday and Saturday commencement events to celebrate the spring graduating class of 2010. With nearly 1,000 students receiving their diploma throughout the weekend, Biola once again conferred degrees upon one of its largest graduating classes.

Dr. Billy Kim, Chairman of Far East Broadcasting Company-Korea, former president of the World Baptist Alliance, influential international Christian leader and statesman served as the Commencement speaker for the Friday Graduate and BOLD Programs Ceremony. Dr. Kim received an honorary Doctor of Divinty and his daughter, Mary Kay Park, graduated with a Ph.D. from the Cook School of Intercultural Studies that evening. Joni Eareckson Tada, CEO of Joni and Friends International Disability Center, renowned Christian author and speaker, advocate for people with disabilities, delivered Saturday's Undergraduate commencement address. Joni received an honorary Doctor of Law degree. Undergraduates and their guests also enjoyed two musical performances from multi-Grammy Award winning vocalist James Ingram, who performed the classic hymn "Blessed Assurance" and his 1985 hit "Yah (Yahweh) Mo Be There."

Biola was honored to welcome His Majesty, the King of Swaziland and Her Royal Highness, Queen La Mbikiza, along with honored guests, as they celebrated the graduation of their daughter, Sikhanyiso "Pashu" Dlamini, a Communication Studies major. Princess Pashu came to Biola in the Fall of 2005 after meeting a number of Biola students who traveled to Swaziland on a missions trip.

In addition to the thousands of guests on Biola's campus, a live internet stream of the ceremony reached an additional 700 guests from as far away as Korea, Indonesia, Kenya, South Africa, Brazil, China, Croatia, Malaysia, Slovakia, Guatemala, Russia, Honduras, Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, Netherlands and Australia, Canada and Mexico in addition to almost every U.S. state (46 states and 23 countries). It truly was a global event and Biola was delighted to host such an international commencement celebration.
