The Office of the President welcomed dignitaries and administrative leaders from Universitas Pelita Harapan and Sekolah Pelita Harapan, a Christian university and high school, respectively, in Indonesia. Biola University has formed a partnership with UPH to jointly impact the world for Jesus Christ.

As the largest Christian university in Indonesia preparing greater than 10,000 students from more than 10 diverse nations, UPH has witnessed recognition from around the world.

President Barry H. Corey hosted the visiting delegation consisting of co-founder of UPH, Dr. James Riady and his wife Aileen, and Rector, Dr. Jonathan Parapak and his wife Anne, among others.

“A great education can't survive without knowledge sharing and relations. Therefore, UPH is constantly seeking partnership with local and international universities around the world,” stated on the UPH website.

According to UPH’s website, “UPH has defined its organizational vision and mission to emphasize a balanced and integrated education, encompassing the arts, science and technology and strengthening spiritual values.”

In doing so, this school serves as a beacon of light in the largest Muslim country in the world.

Biola is looking into opportunities to partner with these schools as a way of living out Biola’s mission to impact the world for Jesus Christ.

“I’m excited about the possibilities this relationship affords us to live out our call to be globally relevant, informed and connected as a university with the world around us,” said Biola University President Barry H. Corey. “UPH is a good match for Biola in the way in which we aspire to impact the world, and we look forward to exploring some dynamic opportunities within the country of Indonesia.”

Corey’s visit to both schools last November prompted interest from SPH students, whom several graduates of SPH are currently attending Biola University. Biola’s enrollment management team looks forward to expanding recruitment efforts in Indonesia.
