Alumni were welcomed back to La Mirada on Friday, October 16, for dinner on campus and a production of Steel Magnolias at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts.

The ensemble cast portraying five friends in a small Southern town featured Michael Learned (Olivia Walton from The Waltons) as Ouiser and Olympic gymnast Cathy Rigby as M’Lynn. The story of their friendship, played out in a local beauty shop, brought the crowd to laughter and tears throughout the evening.

Sheila Levert-an alumna, current parent, and member of the Parent’s Council-summed up the evening by saying, “It was a very pleasant evening. The dinner was fabulous. Bon Appetit is always great! And it was great to see Michael Learned; she was the funniest to me! I love Biola, so anything to do with Biola, I’m there! I could do PR for Biola! Being with Biolans is like being with family.”

Senior Director of Alumni and Friends Development Rick Bee and his wife, Julie, hosted the event.
