More than 6,000 people celebrated the life of President Emeritus Clyde Cook with laughter and tears during two separate memorial services held the week after his passing.

On April 19, nearly 2,000 friends, colleagues and former students filled the First Evangelical Free Church of Fullerton for a service that had been planned by Dr. Cook years before his death. About 1,000 people around the world watched the service live on Biola’s Web site.

The service, featuring some of Dr. Cook’s favorite hymns and Scriptures, included moving tributes from family members and longtime friends, such as Charles Swindoll, who delivered the message.

Dr. Cook, in a special audio message recorded prior to his passage, described the beauty of heaven, telling mourners, "I am more alive now that I have ever been."

“We are always worshiping,” he said. “It is tremendous. It is hard not to, as there are so many reminders of God’s love and our Savior’s sacrifice.”

Two days later, on April 21, more than 3,500 students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends — many of them wearing “I Love Clyde” T-shirts — filled Biola University’s Chase Gymnasium and watched from two satellite locations as the University paid tribute to Dr. Cook.

The service, which was also streamed live on Biola’s web site, featured musical performances and personal tributes from family members and close friends.

To pay tribute to the late President Emeritus Clyde Cook, a memorial web site honoring his life and legacy has been created. The full video of both memorial services can be viewed there as well.
