Kent Edwards

J. Kent Edwards’ ambition is to change people’s lives with the Word of God and equip others to do the same. Kent is known for his passion for preaching and brings over 40 years of Christian leadership experience as a senior pastor, church planter, and educator. He is a popular conference and seminar speaker and lectures regularly nationally and internationally.  

Prior to joining the faculty of Talbot School of Theology / BIOLA University in La Mirada, CA, Kent served on the faculty of Tyndale Seminary in Toronto, Canada, and Gordon-Conwell Seminary in South Hamilton, MA. He is an ordained minister with the Christian & Missionary Alliance and has pastored and church-planted in Canada and the United States.

Edwards is past president of the Evangelical Homiletics Society and the author of two award-winning books: Deep Preaching: Creating Sermons that Go Beyond the Superficial. (Nashville: B&H Academic, 2009) and Effective First-Person Biblical Preaching: The Steps from Text to Narrative Sermon. (Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 2005). He directed the Doctor of Ministry Programs at Talbot School of Theology and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary while serving as Executive Board Member of the Association for Doctor of Ministry Education and founder/editor of The Journal of Christian Ministry.

Kent’s passion for strengthening local church leadership led to the founding of CrossTalk Global. This innovative, non-denominational, outcome-based educational ministry equips leaders of the global church to accurately interpret and effectively communicate Scripture in their local context. CrossTalk is committed to providing high-quality, practical training that is scalable and accessible to all, regardless of educational background or financial means. CrossTalk is currently operating in 10 countries across four continents.

Kent continues to serve full-time as CrossTalk Global’s founder and president while maintaining an active teaching and preaching ministry.
