Biography

Dr. Alejandro “Alex” Jauregui is an educational leader and academic specialist in linguistic diversity who serves as an adjunct professor at Biola University’s School of Education and a senior program officer for the Cotsen Foundation for the ART of EDUCATION. For SP Jauregui, education is more than a career; it is a profound calling. This passion is rooted in 31 years of foundational experience as an elementary school teacher, a tenure that provides him with a deep, practical understanding of the classroom environment and the diverse needs of young learners.

At Biola, Jauregui instructs courses in bilingual methodologies and biliteracy, with a research and teaching focus on increasing student engagement through oral academic language for emergent bilinguals. This academic work is reinforced by his extensive field leadership at the Cotsen Foundation, where he oversees the coaching of mentors across 33 schools and 13 districts. Jauregui also spearheads professional development in CGI math and SLA/ELA specifically for dual-language teachers.

Beyond the classroom and administrative oversight, Jauregui serves as the conference coordinator for CUE and CALIE and manages the recruitment of new dual-language schools into the Cotsen Foundation network. By implementing strategic training programs for educators of linguistically diverse students, he bridges the gap between theoretical research and classroom practice. Through these dual roles, Jauregui continues to drive systemic improvement in bilingual education, fueled by a lifelong love for teaching and a commitment to creating inclusive, high-achieving learning environments.
