What We Do

The Office of Instructional Design and Program Development oversees the design, development, and implementation of online and hybrid courses at Biola. Additionally it manages the Canvas learning management system (LMS), offers training for faculty and staff in online pedagogy and best practices, and provides technical support for the LMS and online teaching.

The Office of Instructional Design and Program Development also assists with media production for online course components, including video recording and audio/visual presentations.

The methods used by Instructional Design are aimed at delivering the highest possible learning outcomes in the online learning modality to advance the vision and mission of the University.

Courses are designed to maximize instructor/student and student/peer relationships through effective collaborative instructional tools and methods. Each course endeavors to create a cooperative and interactive experience where students actively engage in the learning process.
