Ron Pierce

Ron Pierce taught over 20 different courses in the undergraduate division of the Talbot School of Theology during his lengthy tenure of 48 years (1976–2024) with Biola University. Although his primary emphasis was Old Testament, he taught a broad range of subjects within the Biblical & Theological Studies area with specialties in the Israel-Palestine conflict as well as creation, sexuality and gender. In addition to numerous journal articles and book chapters, he wrote Partners in Marriage & Ministry (2011, CBE), co-edited the comprehensive anthology, Discovering Biblical Equality (3 rd ed., 2021, IVP Academic), wrote a pastoral commentary on the Book of Daniel (Teach the Text series with Baker Books), and co-edited Christlike Acceptance across Deep Difference: Constructive Conversations on Sexuality and Gender (2025, Baker Academic). In partnership with his wife Pat, he also founded and directed the Biola travel-study program to Israel and Palestine from 1986–2001. Ron & Pat have been married since 1969, and have two adult children and four grandchildren. The Pierces live in Fullerton, California and serve as active members in the Whittier Area Community Church where Ron is an ordained minister. After leaving Biola he continues an active ministry as a spiritual director, having trained for this new vocation with SoulFormation Academy in Portland, Oregon during his last decade at the University.
