At Biola

Dr. Todd Pickett - Program Director

Todd Pickett of Biola's Dept. of English directs this program. Dr. Pickett himself is a specialist in 19th century British fiction, and received his Master's Degree in Ireland before returning to the States for his Ph.D. On the basis of interviews, written applications, and consultations with other Biola faculty, Dr. Pickett selects students for the program each year. He also annually travels to the London campus to consult with administrators there in an effort to ever improve the program for Biola students.

Students interested in the program are welcome to call, e-mail, or visit Dr. Pickett in Sutherland Hall, room 108, to discuss any aspects of the program further. (x 4711. Phone: (562)903-4711 Email: todd.pickett@biola.edu)

Mary DeJong - Biola London Secretary

Mary is the secretary for Biola London. Like all secretaries, she is nearly all-knowing when it comes to program details. Located in Sutherland Hall, room 109, Mary can provide students with the applications and other written materials as students consider and plan for a semester in London. (x 4768. Email: mary.dejong@biola.edu)

In England

Dr. Nigel Halliday - BBST 465 (Bible Integration Seminar)

Dr. Nigel Halliday is the instructor for the Integration Course, which Biola students are required to take at Roehampton. A British writer and free-lance historian, Nigel has taught aspects of arts, culture and faith to students in London for many years. Having received degrees from Cambridge and the Courtauld Institute in London, he has published a book and many articles on 20th-century art, and regularly writes art and exhibition reviews for academic and popular publications. He is currently working on a novel exploring issues of morality in contemporary art. At his church, Nigel is an elder, teaches regularly, and works closely with the youth program. His understanding of British faith, culture, and history through the lens of the arts allows him to lead students through the biblical and historical issues that the cultural landmarks and museums of London and its surrounding areas raise.
