Built in 2003, Hope North and Hope South are staffed by a Resident Director, Assistant Resident Director and Resident Advisors. Hope is a traditional "dorm-style" hall with community restrooms, two elevators and three stairwells. The main lobby is a two-story atrium; the second floor lobby overlooks this area. There is also a large 4th-floor lobby with balcony patio and two smaller study rooms.

About Hope
Built in 2003, Hope Hall is the largest residence hall on campus, and is treated as two communities: the north end is known as Hope North, and the south end as Hope South, each with its own resident director and staff of resident advisors. It was named in memory of the historic Biola building that was located at 6th and Hope St. in downtown Los Angeles. Hope is home to continuing students (i.e. sophomores, juniors and seniors), is co-ed, with male and female students living in separate sections of the building, while sharing the lobbies, kitchens and laundry facilities.
There is a centralized laundry room on the ground floor with 16 washers and 16 dryers and a large main-floor kitchen. There are eight oversized rooms, designed as 'triples,' and eight single rooms designed to accommodate students with disabilities. Behind Hope is an outdoor amphitheater that seats up to 400.
Hope Hall's doors are secured by an electronic access system, so only students can access the building during the day, and only residents may enter the building at night. Each individual room is key-locked for student security. Security cameras in outside and common areas are monitored 24 hours per day, and Campus Safety patrols campus regularly to ensure student security at all times.

I was born in Cambridge, England, and then was raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for most of my life. I spent my last two years of high school in Chicago but I hated the cold, so I moved out to warm Biola University, California. I lived in Stewart for four years as an undergraduate, serving as an RA for two of those years. My time as an RA deeply influenced me, sparking my interest in a career in Residence Life. After graduating from Biola, I continued there for four more years as the Resident Director. I just recently moved next door to Hope Hall, Stewart’s larger neighbor. As the Hope Hall Resident Director, I am committed to creating opportunities for students to build community by supporting, championing, and walking alongside one another.
I live in Hope with my wife Julia, and our 10 fish. We love having people over, playing backgammon, and going to the beach.

Hi! My name is Josh and I have the pleasure of assisting Cy here at Hope. I'm from the San Diego area originally, but have spent the last ten years in Costa Mesa, CA. I attended Vanguard University ('18) and graduated with a degree in Theology with an emphasis in Spiritual Formation and Discipleship. Before this I pastored high school students in Newport Beach where I fell in love with walking with students as they transition into adulthood. This is a passion that I get to experience everyday here at Biola as I get to empower and resource students to discover the person that God is drawing them to become. Outside of work, I love traveling and trying new restaurants with my wife Emmy, as well as coaching baseball at La Mirada High School.
