Field Educational Course
Field courses or distance education courses are a convenient way for students to begin or continue their graduate studies while away from the Biola campus.
The School of Intercultural Studies offers six courses as field courses.
- Crosscultural Leadership (Sherwood Lingenfelter, Ph.D.)
- Cultural Anthropology for Christian Workers (Douglas Hayward, Ph.D.)
- Dynamics of the Religious Experience (Douglas Hayward, Ph.D.)
- Principles of Church Planting (Tom Steffen, D. Miss.)
- Social Organization (Sherwood Lingenfelter, Ph.D.)
- Urban Research and Ministry (Judith Lingenfelter, Ph.D.)
The six courses offered within the Department of Anthropology, Intercultural Education and Missiology are designed specifically to contribute to your ability to conduct relevant field research, enhance interpersonal and intercultural relationships and increase your effectiveness in cross-cultural work. These courses may be applied towards the M.A. in Intercultural Studies, M.A. in Missions, D.Miss., or Ph.D. in Intercultural Education degrees. Tuition for field courses is at a reduced rate.
