Vacations
Non-exempt employees accrue 10 days of vacation per year. At five years of service, non-exempt employees accrue 15 days of vacation per year. At 15 years of service, non-exempt employees accrue 20 days of vacation time year.
Exempt employees accrue 15 days of vacation per year. At 15 years of service, exempt employees accrue 20 days of vacation. Vacation time is accrued from the date of hire and may be taken as it is accrued. For additional information, please see section 5.1 in the Employee Handbook.

Short Days
Short days are workdays that are designated at the beginning of each fiscal year where employees may leave work early, but get paid for their full workday. These paid hours off are the equivalent of approximately 7 1/2 whole days off. For additional information, please see section 5.12 in the Employee Handbook.
Sick Leave
Non-exempt employees accrue one day of sick leave per month. Exempt employees are granted 12 days of sick leave upon hire and accrue one day per month. Both non-exempt and exempt employees may accrue up to 60 days. Up to six days a year may be used to care for sick immediate family members. Personal Business/Emergency Leave
Biola grants each employee two days of personal business leave per fiscal year. The accrual rate will be prorated for employees who work less than full-time.Personal business leave is to be used for non-vacation-oriented purposes. It may not be used to extend a vacation or holiday period. For additional information, please see section 5.13 in the Employee Handbook.
Bereavement
Time will be granted with pay to cover absence from work from the day of passing to the day following the funeral for close family members. For additional information, please see section 5.17 in the Employee Handbook.
