Google Account Guide

Common Questions

"How does my student get their BYA email?"

Prior to your student's first semester, BYA Tech support will assign them a BYA Issued Google email and password. This login information will be sent to the Parent in an email titled “BYA Digital Welcome Packet.” Learn how to set up your account for the first time by watching this video.


"Where do I login to my email?"

  • Go to google.com/a/bya.biola.edu/ and enter your BYA Issued Google email and password.
  • You can also use Google's regular Sign In page. If you have an existing Google Account you may need to click "add an account" to add your new BYA Issued Google email.

"How do I switch between multiple Google accounts?"

A message appears: "The email and password you entered don't match."

  • Check that your Username is correct. You need to have "@bya.biola.edu" in your username.
  • Make sure your password is typed correctly (check CAPS lock and number lock).
  • If you are still unsuccessful please email BYA Technical Support to obtain a new password.

Connecting

  1. Connect to the Internet by opening your web browser of choice (Firefox, Chrome, or Safari) and go to Google's login (See fig. 1).
  2. Enter your Username and Password
    (your username and password can be found in the "Digital Welcome Packet" which was emailed to your parent's email address).
  3. Click Sign In.

If a message appears: "The email and password you entered don't match."

  • If you are still unsuccessful please contact BYA Technical Support to obtain a new password.

Multiple Accounts

If you have multiple accounts you will need to add an account. There are two ways to do this:

From a current logged in account seen in (fig. 2). Click on your email or profile image icon in the top right corner. In the Figure 1 drop down menu click "Add Account." Add the email and password for the new account and click sign in.

From the Google Accounts page seen in (fig. 3). To log into a NEW Google account, click on the "Add account"" button towards the bottom left and then add the email and password for the new account and click sign in.

A welcome screen will prompt you to accept Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Click "I accept. Continue to my account."

After your first login, you will be prompted to change your password. The assigned password will no longer work so please make note of your new and unique password. If you have forgotten your password or have any other technical problems with Google, please contact Technical Support at (562) 903-4705.

After signing in, you will see a welcome screen listing each Google app you have access to (fig. 4).

Reading Messages

Click Gmail to navigate to your personal inbox (fig. 5). Unread messages show up in bold. If you want to read your sent mail or other emails, just click the appropriate label on the left-hand side.

Sending Messages

To send a message, choose Compose from the left-hand menu (fig. 6). Enter the recipient(s) and subject of your message. Then type the message in the bottom pane and choose Send at the top left of the message when you're ready to send it.
