As a part of living in Welch we have the opportunity to participate in five rhythms with our Welch family: Celebrate, Eat, Pray, Listen, and Reflect. These rhythms will be lived out through eating together, listening to each other’s stories, attending chapel together, toasting and having fun with one another, and reflecting on life as a family.
Built in 1990, the Welch Apartment Building is part of what is known as 'The Bluff,' which also includes Thompson Hall and the Li apartment building. Welch is designed for undergrad students who are 20 years or older by the first day of Fall classes. It is staffed by a paraprofessional Resident Coordinator.
Welch contains 15 one-bedroom apartments, designed to house 3 students each. There is a laundry room on each level. Welch is co-ed, with male and female students living in separate apartments. While there is no lobby or lounge per se, there is an external patio/deck with BBQ grills, and the landings and common balconies have become social spaces in Welch.
Welch Apartments' doors are secured by an electronic access system, so only students can access the building during the day, and only residents may enter the building at night. Each individual room is key-locked for student security. Security cameras in outside and common areas are monitored 24 hours per day, and Campus Safety patrols campus regularly to ensure student security at all times.
Each room differs slightly, so your room may look different. There are many other ways to personalize the layout of your room from these samples.
Tuesday Toasts: Every Tuesday night the Welch community comes together. It is sometimes goofy, sometimes serious, and sometimes random. Toasting with others helps the community join in celebration, know each other more, and enjoy life together.
