BestSemester proudly offers several off-campus and study abroad programs around the world through the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU). The CCCU is a higher education association of 179 intentionally Christ-centered institutions around the world.
Based in Amman, Jordan, the Middle East Studies Program (MESP) offers students a unique opportunity to become immersed in the complex and strategically important world of the modern Middle East.
What Will I Study?
Under the guidance of a staff with over 30 years of experience living in the region, students live together in a close-knit community and explore the diverse religious, social, cultural and political traditions of Middle Eastern peoples through interdisciplinary seminars.
Students also earn up to six credits of advanced Arabic language and serve at local organizations with the opportunity to earn intercultural internship/practicum credit throughout the semester. During the program’s substantial travel components (recently including Israel/Palestine, Islamic Spain, Morocco and Turkey), students participate in homestays and discover the diversity and dynamism of Middle Eastern cultures by experiencing their foods, customs, schools, neighborhoods and places of worship. At a time of change in the Middle East, MESP empowers and equips students to relate to Muslim, Eastern Christian and Jewish peoples in a guided and Christ-centered approach.
Students will be enrolled in all MESP courses.
**Note: Students are enrolled in a 3 credit INCS 473 class to absorb the additional credit from three of the four credit MESP classes.
