General Information
Biola’s Chemistry Placement Day is on Saturday, May 14. This day is an opportunity for incoming Biola students to start their first Biola semester strong. Here’s how:
Complete required chemistry placement exam
Be among the first to receive your fall class schedule (you’ll get early access for attending the event)
Meet with an academic advisor
Get your digital Biola ID card
Event Schedule
Register for one chemistry placement option:
Morning Option
9:00 — 9:30 a.m. - Welcome Session
9:30 — 11:00 a.m. - Chemistry Placement Exam
10:30 — 12:00 p.m.- Walk-ins with an academic advisor
Afternoon Option
12:30 — 1:00 p.m. - Welcome Session
1:00 — 2:30 p.m. - Chemistry Placement Exam
1:30 — 3:30 p.m. - Walk-ins with an academic advisor
Students are provided lunch and the chance to take a photo for their digital ID card
Chemistry Requirements at Biola
To check which placement exams you need, please view the Academic Advising website. For a general guide, here are the major requirements for chemistry:
Nursing Majors
Required course: CHEM 120: Bio and Organic Chemistry
Students meet the chemistry 120 placement requirement in one of the following ways:
Passing score on the online chemistry exam
Completing an online Biola chemistry tutorial ($60 cost)
Completed equivalent CHEM 107: Introduction to Chemistry course with C or higher
Allied Health, Applied Physics, Biological Science, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Engineering Physics, Health Sciences, Public Health, and Physics Majors
Required Course: CHEM 105: General Chemistry I
Students meet the chemistry 105 placement requirement in one of the following ways:
Passing score on the online ALEKS chemistry exam (80%)
AP Chemistry score of 3 or higher
AP Calculus AB or BC score of 3 or higher
College-level calculus course
Completed equivalent CHEM 107: Introduction to Chemistry course with B- or higher
Can't Attend?
If you are unable to attend, do not worry! Visit the Academic Advising placement exam site for alternative options to complete your required science placements.
