This two-day event will introduce and welcome the parents/guardians and families of all new students to the Biola Community. Below, you'll find the schedule for our Welcome Weekend event!

While the Parent and Family Welcome event is free to attend, students need to register for the New Student Orientation, which is $20. Please visit biola.edu/student-orientation for more information.

Parent & Family Welcome Weekend 2022 Schedule

Thursday, August 25

    • 8:00am-5:00pm: Information Booth and T-shirt Sales, Fluor Fountain
      • Stop by the Family Information table with any questions you might have about the Biola family experience or just say hello to the Family Engagement staff and our Parent Council. Also, parents, don’t forget to grab a Biola Parent t-shirt for only $7!
    • 4:00pm-5:00pm: Regional Family Meet-ups, Various (see below)
      • Want to connect with other families from your neck of the woods? Stop by your regions meet up for a quick refreshment and connection opportunity

    Friday, August 26

    • 9:00am-10:00am: Family Orientation: A Family’s Guide to Supporting Student Success and Well-being, Tent at Lot F
      • A hands-on workshop on how to support your students relationally, emotionally, academically and spiritually as they begin their Biola journey.
    • 10:00am-10:15am: Break
    • 10:15am-11:00amFamily Orientation: Academic and Career Supports at Biola, Sutherland Auditorium 
      • Join the Director of Academic Advising, Amanda Jordan, and the Director of Career Development, Tiffany Lee, to learn how Biola empowers students to thrive and be successful in their academic and career journeys.
      • Topics include:
        • First year academic advising
        • Study Abroad
        • Tutoring support 
        • Internship and job search tools
        • Career coaching
    • 11:00am-12:00pm: Family Orientation – Campus Safety and Health Services, Sutherland Auditorium
      • Attendees of this session will gain a better understanding of how their students will be kept safe and resourced in their physical well-being by our Campus Safety and Health Center staff. Speakers include Associate Vice President and Chief of Campus Safety, Chief John Ojeisekhoba and Director of the Health Center, Dr. Sarah Templeton.
    • 1:00pm-4:00pm: Parent and Family Cafe, Giumarra Courtyard
      • Stop by and connect with other Biola families, members of the Parent Council, and our Family Engagement staff. We are here to provide you with a time of refreshment, connection, fellowship and support during this very exciting time.
    • 5:00pm-7:00pm President's Welcome Dinner
      • Enjoy a classic cookout dinner and meet President Corey. All are welcome.
    • 7:30pm- 9:00pm University Communion, Metzger Lawn
      • Share in one of our most memorable traditions as new Biola students begin their Biola journey with worship and communion. Students and families are encouraged to attend.

    Students will attend New Student Orientation all-day Saturday and Sunday, and we ask that parents and families say their farewells at the conclusion of the University Communion service on Friday night. 

    *Note: If your student is an International, MK, First Gen Scholar, Torrey Honors Institute student or athlete, please keep in mind that they may be asked to arrive to campus prior to this date for housing check-in and additional orientation activities. Details will be provided by the specific program or coach.
