Brian Martin is a successful engineer and entrepreneur in the field of medical device development. He earned a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of California at San Diego, and has designed, invented, and developed various medical devices over the past 25 years. Brian has managed technical teams for both large and small companies, but has specialized in the startup medical device arena and the creation of new and novel medical device technologies.

Brian has founded or co-founded several medical device companies in the Bay Area, including Evalve (acquired by Abbott Vascular), Concentric Medical (acquired by Stryker Neurovascular), and Lazarus Effect (acquired by Medtronic Inc.). He is an inventor on over 90 patents and published patent applications in the United States.

Brian’s inventions and medical devices have literally saved or enhanced the lives of tens of thousands of patients. Brian is also a man of faith, and has integrated his belief in God with his work and profession. His latest company, Lazarus Effect, was started with a dedication to honor God through everything, and God directly inspired Brian in the design of the stroke development devices on which they focused. Lazarus Effect was acquired by Medtronic in 2015 for $100M.

Brian is a leader in the Vineyard Church of Scotts Valley, and has lead numerous men’s groups, small groups, and home groups. He lives in Santa Cruz, Calif. with his wife Leilani and their four adopted children, Josiah, Melea, Jezreel, and Isaac.
