Jonathan Anderson

Jonathan Anderson is an associate professor of art at Biola University, where he has been teaching since 2006. He is an artist and an art critic, whose writing focuses especially on bringing contemporary art and Christian theology into more meaningful conversation and mutual understanding. He is currently finishing a book called Modern Art and the Life of a Culture, which he is coauthoring with theologian William Dyrness (forthcoming from IVP Academic). 

Monica Cure

Monica Cure was born in Romania and grew up bicultural in Detroit, learning Spanish along the way. She studied Comparative Literature and from the Torrey great books curriculum, she loves both Fyodor Dostoyevsky and T.S. Eliot. Her specialty is late 19th/early 20th British and American literature. She received her doctorate from the University of Southern California and wrote her dissertation on the invention of the postcard as a new form of communication technology and its representation in the turn-of-the-century novel.  Her dissertation allowed her to explore her interests in popular culture and media, travel, art history, visual and material culture, and postcolonial studies. It also legitimized her antiquing habit and ever-growing old postcard collection. On her days off campus, you will likely find her in a cafe in LA with a good friend or a good book.

Carrie Stockton

I serve as the Dean of Student Success and I've worked at Biola since 2001. I love working at Biola, especially walking alongside the amazing students God has brought here and seeing His work in their lives. My time as an undergraduate student at a Christian college was full of rich experiences. deep relationships with faculty and fellow students, and growth in Christ through a vibrant learning experience. It's a privilege to be a part of that experience for Biola students. God has given each of us unique strengths and I am so grateful each time I see someone discover how those gifts and talents will be used for His glory.

Marlin Owen

Mr. Owen is currently Area Coordinator of the Strings Department and is the private instructor for applied cello lessons. He is also the conductor of the Biola Symphony Orchestra, and he teaches the Music History and Music Culture courses. His dynamic teaching style and eclectic musical career contribute to his students' rich learning experience in class, at lesson, and under his baton. Alumna Hannah McGarvey ('13) says, "Mr. Owen is one of the most creative and unique professors I have ever had. His joy for life and learning is contagious. His passion for learning new things is a rare quality not found in many people. Through his teaching, mentorship, and guidance, I was able to grow exponentially as a musician and as a person. I am not only a better musician, but a person who is learning to embrace the excitement of life and the passion of learning."

Jerri Lee Owen

Within a continuing search for 'what makes it beautiful' Jerri Lee Owen teaches with a love for music and a passion for teaching which opens doors to musical artistry for students. Out of her life-long career of teaching and performing, she brings insights into the ease of playing and the nuances of style while yet addressing the unique talents and challenges of individual students.
