WISDOM chapels connect us to God by sharing the wisdom of Scripture as lived out by those whose work brings clarity to what it means to live in the kingdom of God. Biola University is a community of thoughtful people working in biblically-integrated disciplines who bring wisdom to biblical truths and commands from their disciplinary perspectives and experiences. Wisdom chapels focus on biblically-relevant wisdom in the areas of: Spiritual Development, Christian Living, Missions and Evangelism, Justice, Racial Reconciliation, Apologetics, and Arts and Culture.

Speakers

Barry Corey

Dr. Barry H. Corey became the eighth president of Biola University on July 1, 2007, officially launching the celebration of the University's centennial year.

Corey, a Massachusetts native with an extensive academic, fundraising and pastoral background, came to Biola from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Hamilton, Mass., where he served as vice president/chief academic officer and academic dean. In that role, he oversaw academic operations including faculty relations, curriculum development and degree/non-degree programs. Prior to that, he served as Gordon-Conwell's vice president for development, leading all external relations and fundraising programs - including a successful $54 million capital campaign.

Corey received a B.A. in English and biblical studies from Evangel University in Springfield, Mo., in 1984. In 1988, he received an M.A. in American Studies with a concentration in literature and religious history from Boston College's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Corey received a Ph.D. from Boston College in curriculum, instruction and administration (a higher education program) in 1992.

Tom Nelson

Tom earned a Masters of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Trinity International University. He is the author of Five Smooth Stones: Discovering the Path To Wholeness of Soul, Ekklesia: Rediscovering God’s Design for the Church, and Work Matters: Connecting Sunday Worship to Monday Work. Tom also serves on the boards of The Gospel Coalition and Trinity International University. Tom has two grown children and has been married to his wife Liz for thirty years.
