WISDOM chapels connect us to God by sharing the wisdom of Scripture as lived out by those whose work brings clarity to what it means to live in the kingdom of God. Biola University is a community of thoughtful people working in biblically-integrated disciplines who bring wisdom to biblical truths and commands from their disciplinary perspectives and experiences. Wisdom chapels focus on biblically-relevant wisdom in the areas of: Spiritual Development, Christian Living, Missions and Evangelism, Justice, Racial Reconciliation, Apologetics, and Arts and Culture.

He has degrees in Classical languages and literature from Stanford University and from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, an M.A. in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care from Biola University, and a Ph.D. in English from the University of California (Irvine). He lives in Costa Mesa, CA, and is married to Dottie Cox Pickett, a marriage and family therapist.

Maribeth Ekey

Specializing in resolving loss and trauma, Dr. Ekey has been a psychologist for 25+ years helping adults--individuals, groups, and couples--work their way through hard feelings of depression, anxiety, grief, loneliness and the shock, numbness or deep anger of trauma and betrayal.  It is her goal to journey with her clients through the tumultuous feelings to a place of freedom, hope, and new capacity for closeness--to experience with them the tears and laughter, "Aha's!" and "Oh No's!" that lead to change, growth and learning to like themselves and life.
