Biography

Shelley Gooch earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from California State University, San Bernardino and a Master of Arts in Social Work from San Diego State University. After obtaining her master’s degree she worked in the medical field including Emergency Room Social Work and Neonatal Intensive Care Social Work at Loma Linda University Medical Center. She has experience in Hospice and Home Care and was a member of the San Diego Police Department Crisis Intervention Team. Over the last 10 years, Shelly has homeschooled all four of her children and taught a variety of courses and co-ops. Shelly has a passion for preparing students for higher learning and encouraging homeschool parents. She has taught a variety of subjects, and two of her favorites include Language Arts and History. In her free time, she loves to read historical fiction. Shelly has been happily married for over 24 years and her husband has been very active in homeschooling their children. All four children have taken classes at Biola Youth Academics and the strength of the program shows in their academic success.
