  • M.A., Dallas Theological Seminary

In 1978 Marty was one of the first female graduates with a Masters of Arts in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary. She was a pastor’s wife for 11 years and along with her husband, Walt Russell, planted two churches on the east coast. Marty served as an Assistant to the Director of Women’s Ministries at the First Evangelical Church of Fullerton, CA for six years where she was responsible for directing all of the major women’s events.

In 1999 Marty became an adjunct professor at Biola University and for five years taught Authentic Womanhood, a Bible-integration elective to undergraduate women. In 2005 the dean of Talbot asked Marty to develop the first core-course to equip women in the area of ministry to women. Foundations of Women’s Ministry teaches students how to equip women based on a biblical philosophy of ministry and reach multiple generations in a changing culture. She loves to mentor Talbot women and pastors’ wives.

Marty is a regular speaker at retreats and conferences in the U.S and recently in Asia. Her teaching brings together a robust intellectual grasp of the faith that engages both heart and mind to challenge women of every age to live with spiritual passion and a kingdom focus. Her husband is a Professor of Bible Exposition at Talbot School of Theology. She and Walt live in Yorba Linda, CA. They have two grown children.
