Education: Northwestern College, B.S., Psychology and Biblical Studies; George Fox University M.A., Counseling.

At Biola since: 2007
My StrengthsFinder top five: Empathy, Developer, Individualization, Communication, Positivity.

What do you do in your job (briefly)? I am the Director of Student Care and I get to work with students who have emotional or behavioral issues arise during their time at Biola. I also get to help manage, train and develop our student care program and our staff (in particular RAs and RDs) in this area.

Your best example of love? My husband is the best example of love to me. He continually points me to the Christ and also really models Christ’s love for me in his words and actions.

Why are you at Biola? Since college I’ve wanted to be involved in student development. My husband and I moved to Biola five years ago, feeling specifically called to be at Biola as an RD. I am excited to now be in this new role.

If God put you completely in charge of creating Heaven, what would it be like? Lots of trees; we’d be able to swim with sea turtles, dolphins, whales, and snuggle with polar bears; the temperature would never be above 78 degrees; great conversations with old and new friends; we’d all get turns sitting under a willow tree chatting with Jesus.

What are five things you are most thankful for in your life right now? My husband, my family, my job, my friends, and my pet turtles.

What job do you fantasize about having? Owning an old renovated red barn and having events there.

What was the last book you read? The Hunger Games and Cold Tangerines.

Any brushes with fame or celebrity? I once saw Bob Harper from the Biggest Loser.

Who plays you in your bio-pic? I don’t know, but Matt Damon plays my husband!

What’s your ringtone? It’s almost always on silent!

Your favorite electronic device? My iPhone.

What do your friends say is your best quality? Listening and Empathy.

What natural talent do you wish you had? I’ve always wanted to play piano without taking lessons.

What is your life theme song? My Jesus I Love Thee.

Do you believe in love at first sight? Yes.

Do you think it is possible to live with no regrets? I think it’s all in how you define regret. We will all make mistakes, but if we choose to learn and grow from them, then I don’t think they need to be regrets.

What is your definition of success? Do you consider yourself to be successful? Micah 6:8 has really become my life verse and a way that I view success: Do justly, love mercy, walk humbly with God. I try to keep this in mind daily as I make decisions and interact with others but I am nowhere near perfect at this-just doing the best I can.

What is the most beautiful thing you have ever seen? I love the Oregon coast during large storms.

In what areas of your life is it most difficult to trust God? The unknown.
