Biography

  • What is a word or phrase that describes you?
The phrase that best describes me is my life goal, "to teach the truth that others may thrive."
  • What was the greatest lesson you learned in college?
The greatest lesson that I learned in college was to surround myself with people that I want to become like.

  • Who has had the greatest influence on your life?
Personally, the greatest influence on my life is my wife. Intellectually, my greatest influences have been Dallas Willard or Tom Wright. Pastorally, the greatest influence on me has been John Mark Comer.

  • What do you love about Biola?
I love that Biola as an institution is a place that holds fast to its convictions but also consciously attempts to improve in areas that it falls short.

  • What advice would you give to online and graduate students?
The best advice I would give to students is to take full advantage of your time here. It's very easy to view school as a task to accomplish on a to-do list in order to get a job rather than viewing it as a journey that's deeply formative.

  • What is your favorite quote or bible verse?
My favorite bible passage is probably the Shepherd Psalm (Psalm 23) because of the picture that it paints of a life of flourishing in God's world under his rule and reign. The passage reminds me of what life can look like when we walk in humble step alongside Jesus in his easy yoke.
