Yu Yan was born and raised in China. She did her undergraduate studies at Fudan University in Shanghai, and then completed her Ph.D. in mathematics at Stanford University. Before joining Biola, she taught a wide range of mathematics courses at the University of British Columbia, Houghton College and Huntington University. Her research is in the areas of differential geometry, differential equations, and analysis.
