Eileen O’Hern, vocal director, began playing in the Biola Youth Theatre (BYT) sandbox with the first summer skills camp in 2003. At various times after that summer, she added several Young Players shows to her resume — in addition to all the summer camps since — until finally, in 2009, she dove headlong into the pool, leisurely mixing metaphors and never looking back.
Eileen holds an M.M. in Vocal Performance from California State University, Fullerton, has been a soloist with the Knoxville Symphony and the LA Chamber Singers (among others), and has given many world premieres. She teaches voice at Santa Ana College, and is Director of Music and Traditional Worship at Geneva Presbyterian Church in Laguna Hills, where she also designs and produces seasonal arts presentations; she also maintains a private voice studio.
If Eileen had kids of her own — which she does, incidentally — she would want them to participate in BYT — which they have, incidentally. But both enjoy attending the shows and seeing what these talented kids are up to. Eileen is equal parts grateful for and humbled by the opportunity to serve the children and youth in this program, and blessed to be a part of the Biola community.
